A cacophony of cat chat

In one of my games with Mark yesterday I had just played the bingo INTRONS (79) and drew my replacement tiles. I always draw my letters one-by-one and I was rolling my eyes at the overabundance of vowels: the first six I drew were AEIMOU. I hoped that the seventh tile I drew would be a D…and it was!

My new rack formed MIAOUED yet I wasn’t too thrilled that there was no place to play it. What’s the point of hoping to draw a D if you have an unplayable bingo? After INTRONS Mark played MEW, stacking it to the left of FUTURE. The cats were having a conversation and I overheard them telling me where I could play next. I was able to overlap MIAOUED (89), making five two-letter words stacked alongside INTRONS.

Had I not found a place to play MIAOUED, I did in fact have a bingo play: ADEIMOU builds to the first N in INTRONS to make EUDAIMON, but that would have only scored 63.

I was then able to score 77 for QUEST and to bingo out with aGIOTAGE (61) to win 527-289.
