Christmas at my house

This year must be a record for the earliest date that I have posted interior Christmas shots of my home. I put up my tree and decorated earlier this year than in the past, and for good reason. I was expecting two house guests who would be staying with me from Friday, November 15 to Monday, November 18. The weekend they were expected was the very weekend I would have set aside to decorate. I thought it would be so nice to have the place all decorated by the time they arrived. I really could not have the job half done while they were here, as boxes would be strewn all over the living room floor and the place would look like a mess. I worked the entire week prior to their arrival and got it all done by that Friday night.

The top half of my recreated Christmas 1970 tree. Compare it with the actual tree below:

The bottom half of the Christmas 1970 tree has been reproduced below:

I painted this Christmas tree when I was four years old. The teacher must not have been paying attention and put the string loop through that particular end of the artwork. Notice where the trunk is. I have always maintained that this picture is hanging upside down. Another relic from 1970 Christmas!

The above two shots are of my new tree in the guest room. I love the violet lights. What a gorgeous sight when you get to the top of the stairs!

  1. How lovely, Craig! Your words and pictures bring tears to my eyes. These are such precious memories for you🥰 The pictures are lovely and you did such a beautiful job recreating your childhood tree. Your mom would be so touched and grateful that you remember with such fondness what she gave you in your early years. If only we could all be so reminiscent of our childhood Christmas memories. You are very special. Your mom raised a very sensitive and kind human being. My hat goes off to her and, of course, to you.
Bring all that Christmas magic to Nova Scotia again this year!
