Earlier this month I started my Christmas baking. Each year from 2015 on, I have baked my mother’s famous shortbread cookies. It is a labour of love to spend the evening (or morning, as I baked last Sunday before work at 1 p.m.) baking while Christmas music is playing. I have my new kitchen blinds up so I can see the twinkling Christmas lights on my front fence.
Each year the number of recipients grows. I have now over forty people on my cookie list. Here is the first batch of eighteen tins. I am taking eight of them to the post office today. If you got cookies in the mail last year, you will get cookies again this year.
Today after work I need to buy more butter and fruit sugar. I plan to bake some more on Friday night and Sunday, at which point I will be just over half finished!
