Christmas in Toronto and Mississauga

Mark and I arrived home from Halifax on New Year’s Eve night. The plan was for me to go home, drop off my stuff and head over to Mark’s to ring in the New Year. In advance of our Christmas holiday I had already packed a small suitcase full of all of Mark’s Ontario Christmas presents. Once I fished out a few necessary things from my Halifax suitcase and checked the bus schedule, I grabbed the smaller suitcase and headed out the door. I left the larger suitcase on the carpet by the front door. It was so snowy in Mississauga that I didn’t want to take it further inside, as I had to tow it through the street on the walk home. I’d deal with unpacking it when I got back on New Year’s night.

Mark got a new artificial tree last year. He had borrowed one of mine over the years but they have looked old and weren’t worth keeping. I have donated a few of my old trees to Goodwill. The one below is how Mark arranged it for New Year’s morning, when we opened all of our Ontario presents together:

Before Mark set all the presents under the tree, he took these pictures. With the clear lights on at night, the red decorations really stand out:

Grant and Evelyn visited during the afternoon of January 10. I had a feast of shrimp, crab, Polish deli meats and cheese:

This is how it looked under my tree with Grant’s and Evelyn’s enormous stockings and my pile of gifts:

Evelyn and Grant love their Nussbeisser chocolate bars:

I am about to open my first present. I am wearing a Toronto Maple Leafs pullover, a gift from our nephew Matthew.
