Mark and I played twelve games of Scrabble over the recent long weekend. I won eleven. There were several occurrences that I found interesting enough to write about.
I always draw my tiles from the bag one at a time, even when I know that I am emptying the bag. In two of our games I discovered that the final tile that I drew was the blank.
Bingo Count over twelve games:
Craig | Mark |
CORBEILS (70) | STORINg (74) |
CHEERiO (68) | ENDORSE (68) |
HEMIOlA (80) | PARITIES (83) |
DISASTER (70) | COLLiDE (83) |
ASTERIA (74) | TRAILeD (69) |
MImOSAS (84) | TOaDIEs (75) |
CARNIES (82) | REVILES (70) |
SONIcATE (74) | TRoThED (74) |
REGIONS (70) | |
GOTCHES (115) | |
TRANCING (76) | |
STRIKES (89) | |
NAIADES (61) |
I played no bingos in the game I lost.
My draw after SONIcATE was likely the most lucrative rack I have ever picked in a lifetime of Scrabble:
KOQVWXZ = 42 points. I drew this rack in the middle of the game. Imagine if I had emptied the bag and Mark bingoed out! I kept this rack and played off the unique tiles one-by-one for big scores:
QI for 31
WEEK for 63
ADOZE for 75
OX for 52
My draw after NAIADES was another expensive replenishment: AEFJOXZ.
