Miss Rainer won consecutive Oscars in 1936 for “The Great Ziegfeld” and in 1937 for “The Good Earth”. She is a delight to watch, a beauty on screen, and a cinematic hero. Happy Birthday Luise!

I am also saddened to hear the news that Miep Gies, the woman who hid Anne Frank and her family, died yesterday at the age of 100.
