I just received a postcard from my friend Sharon. She visited Rita’s Tea Room in Big Pond, Nova Scotia, where late Canadian singer Rita MacNeil used to live. It is now a concert venue and restaurant. Sharon however chose not to mail it from Big Pond. We two certainly think alike, as we both choose where to post our mail in order to get unique or otherwise quirky postmarks. In the past I have mailed postcards from Finland from the town of Ii, and last year in Iceland I waited until I had arrived on the tiny island of Grímsey to mail them. My Rita card:
was mailed from somewhere…special. Sharon travelled to Newfoundland after and dropped this card in a town that I am sure made Rita a very happy woman.
