Last Friday night my brother Grant, sister-in-law Evelyn and I went to the Mandarin for dinner. It is customary for the Mandarin to circulate a dapper gentleman to visit each table to thank the diners for having chosen to dine there. With his hands in the prayer position and a slight bow, the gentleman handed my brother his card:
I looked at the card yet it was facing my brother so it was upside-down to me. I stared at it a long time. My eyesight isn’t good but surely it didn’t say that. I thought that it said Mahjong Partier when what it really said was Managing Partner.
