[a] One Thing Leads to Another had already been in release for three months and was on my chart when I started it in November 1983.

[b] Human Nature reached its peak position after an eight-week run at #8, which would have been the longest length of time in that position had the song not risen two notches. The irony is that Human Nature rose to #6 not by its own surge in popularity but as a result of attrition: it was falling on my chart and the only reason it rose was that the songs above it the previous week suffered greater losses. This is what Billboard magazine calls “falling upward”. In any other week, Human Nature would have fallen and may have dropped off the chart after its eighth week at #8. It did in fact leave my chart the week after its sole week at #6. I find it oddly coincidental that Human Nature ranks as the 86th song to have peaked at #6. Its rise to its peak position resembled its rank, 8 → 6.

[c] The record for the longest run at #6.

[d] Album track, never released as a single. My chart ended shortly after I allowed album tracks and this song never had a chance to peak higher.
