I visited Notre-Dame Cathedral in early August 2009, following my Breton language course in Plésidy (Plijidi). Here are some photos from my time there:

Notre-Dame is without a doubt the most beautiful building in the most beautiful city I have ever been to. When I logged in to CNN.com yesterday afternoon and saw the giant bold headline shouting that Notre-Dame was ablaze I was in shock, and fell into a profound sadness. I worried that everything inside it would be lost forever. Parts of the wooden ceiling in the photos above are gone. The north rose window in the photo on the above right was saved.
