Planet Christmas: The world’s most extreme Christmas decorations!

Planet Christmas: The world’s most extreme Christmas decorations! by Chuck Smith showed extravagantly decorated houses from all over the world, yet its main focus was on the USA and England. The front cover, however, shows a house in Obermeitingen, Germany.

The photos unfortunately were not impressive. Too many faraway shots or blurred nighttime scenes did not enhance the look of some of the houses. I watch the TV show “The Great Christmas Light Fight” every year, which shows truly the most over-the-top lit-up houses in the United States and, in comparison to those homes, the ones in this book look pretty sparse. I see more “extreme” lights and decorations simply by walking around the Forest Hill neighbourhood in Toronto.

The book, published in 2005, does offer a local connection. Page 100 features the Mississauga house of John Dacosta. I wonder if he is still around decorating his house, as I couldn’t find any recent on-line presence for Dacosta. I’d like to ride over to see it.
