The Club had its annual Christmas party last night with a full dinner potluck and desserts. I brought a tin of my mother’s shortbreads–each tin contains about 44 cookies–and it pleased me to see that there were none left at the end of the night. People were complimenting me on them yet I deflect all such praise and redirect it to my mother. I tell people that I am following her recipe to the exact measurements and their love of her shortbreads is all because of her. I am only the channel that is continuing her tradition. My mother would be touched, and a bit bewildered, to know that her cookies were so loved.

I won all three last night to take my record to 27-3:

506-316 against Dave K. I played FORMUlA (80), PTYAlINS (80) and RETITLED (60).

505-392 against Yvonne. I played BERATES (74), REPINNED (62), LAMISTER (77) and TAUrINES (68, through Yvonne’s r) and Yvonne played OVERGAIN (82)*, NODDERs (68) and INTROrSE (74).

345-310 against Jean. I played the game’s only bingo, BISTREd (81).
