I won all three last night to take my record to 49-5. Mark and I will be away from the Club for the next four weeks as we will be visiting South America.
470-333 against Dave K. I played DiSTALS (72)*, READOUT (66) and AMITIES (70). I was not entirely sure of my first bingo, yet the other word I wrote down, DeSALTS, seemed even more doubtful. Turns out that’s the only 7LW in that rack. One of my racks was ADRSTUY and there was an open O. I shuffled my tiles to make OUTYARDS–never considered playing it–but the letters looked promising. Turns out there is a valid 8LW in there, SUDATORY, which I recalled but did not find.
468-320 against Bill. I played VOMITERS (76), ASTERIA (68) and REGALLy (64).
443-331 against Trevor. I opened the game with MEASLES (74) and also played DISRObE (74). I had just gotten rid of too many vowels by playing EAU (22), such that the space above the E was a DLS in the top TWS row. One B was already on the board and I wasn’t afraid Trevor might have the other. I was able to take advantage of the spot on my next turn when I drew the blank and made it a b for DISRObE. Its anagram, bORIDES, wouldn’t fit as the DLS square was four in from the right corner. Trevor played UNhAIRS (71). When I held DEIORS? there were two 2LW on the board with enough space before and after that might have permitted a 9LW. To -ED- I could have played SOlDIERED and through -MA- I could have played ROMAnISED. I didn’t try looking in either spot because, while both would have been flashy, they wouldn’t have scored as many points as DISRObE.
