I won all three last night to take my record to 78-9:
378-338 against John D. I played DISbARS (68) and John played STARING (76). I struggled through this game, not going ahead till the end when I drew the Z and the second blank. John was under time trouble and lost thirty points. Had he not gone overtime, I still would have won by 10. I was grateful to finally get a late bingo with DISbARS, but my replacement pick was AAEEIO? I spent a long time with my bingo rack, trying to find a 7LW that ended in -DS. I found two of them (there are three) yet doubted myself, again. I see words that I only would recall from studying but have second thoughts and reconsider. Had I played SpARIDS or vISARDS then I could have slotted the D on a TLS and not a one-point tile as in DISbARS. (The third -DS word is ShAIRDS, which is familiar, but didn’t occur to me.)
473-285 against Peter H. I played first and drew AAADKOO and exchanged five, keeping AD. I played GASELIER (74), FOIsTED (84) and CILiOUS (84)*. I thought my third bingo was the unmodified root of SUPERCILIOUS. I had other 7LW to play that ended in -S (OILCUpS, UnCOILS and UpCOILS) but I wanted to find one that started with a C to prevent parallel plays. I chickened out of the only bingo in BDEIIO? = BIOcIDE. There was a place for it as well. Sigh. Once again I recognize these freaky words then shy out of playing them.
506-324 against Dave K. I played RACEMOID (66), BITtERER (72) and SEATInG (88). Dave played UTILISES (70) and SPINNER (69). My final rack was AAEFITX and I just needed an N for ANTEFIXA!
