I won all three last night, to take my record to 54-9:
474-247 against Vivina. I played DOPaMInE (76) and WALKS / ZONES (65). I had the natural COWPEAS on my rack yet nowhere to play it. That rack makes no 8LW.
462-328 against Trevor. I played SINTERED (79), BOUNCIER (66) and ELUTIOnS (74) and Trevor played COOTIES (68) and SEARING (69). I challenged off two of his phonies. Throughout the game, as per Trevor’s style, he held his tiles while hovering over various places on the board. I don’t know if this helps him visualize board placement or if he does this to make his opponents wonder where he will eventually play. With two tiles in hand he covered the 15 × 15 grid and plopped AA down for 7, thwarting my flashy play of NDUJA in the same spot for 67! I would have placed the N on the top left TWS and the J on the DLS, with the A stacked atop a B. That would have been the first time I played this oddball newie. Sigh.
342-340 against Sid. I was not playing smartly at the beginning, as I was dropping single tiles for piddly points while trying to balance my rack. I had successive turns of 5, 4 and 8 while Sid was racking up his score. I eventually was able to play a bingo, VERItIES (80) which only brought me fifteen points ahead. Sid had the last rack ACEIIT? but nowhere to play CIlIATE. The only bingo lane was to find an 8LW that ended in N or -NA, yet he didn’t find EThICIAN.
