439-341 against Binoy. I played RENOVATE (86) and INAtELY (89)* and Binoy played mARRIED (72). I see I could have just as easily made my blank an n to play INAnELY in the same place. In my years of playing competitive Scrabble I have encountered others who confused the spelling of INNATE versus INANE and I even developed a system to remember them yet my system failed me in this game. I am fortunate that Binoy never even held the play. Maybe this moment will finally cement the spellings into my brain.
512-301 against Jonathan. I played DEGAMIS (95), STROKED (79) and OXyACID (74). I almost didn’t get to play OXyACID, which, by the way, is the only 7LW within ACDIOX? Jonathan had taken the only place for it, where I had wanted to hook the X under APE to make APEX. Jonathan’s move though it blocked APEX gave me another place, to hook AG with my D.
