I won all three last night, to end the Toronto Club season on a high note. My final record is 16-17:
423-285 against Alex. I played UNeRRING (68) and MENHiRS (89). Alex played DeTAINED (67) through my e. Somehow I missed the (obvious, now) bingo with ABILORS: BAILORS. It would have fit. It is practically an alphagram of itself.
479-356 against Zev. I played EPITAXES (104) £ and rESCUERS (86) and Zev played BEANERS (80)*. I totally missed the NWL bingo EXPIATES. I see that my rack of AEIPSTX also builds through an M to make MIXTAPES.
501-331 against Mark E. I opened with MANNITE (74) and also got down JAEGERS (88) and GRIEVEs (82). Mark played FALTBOAT (63) and MISLAIN (86). One of my racks was ADDLOO? and I had to find a bingo that began with O, or DO- or LO-. The only 7LW within that rack was LADhOOD. Another bingo lane was open, provided I find an 8LW beginning with F. I considered FOODLAnD and wrote it down on the back of my score sheet, but believed I only “knew” that word because I recognized it as a chain of grocery stores. Turns out that FOODLAND is acceptable.
