Mark and I spent the day with our cruise friend Larry at his home in Richmond Hill. We had met him at Le Champ de Mars hotel in Port Louis, Mauritius, and hung out with him while on the cruise. While Mark and I disembarked in Cape Town, he took the cruise to its final destination in Lisbon. We had planned to get together not long after he finally returned home, after three months at sea. His place is full of travel souvenirs and photos. We had a lengthy walk through the greenspaces around his home and strolled by fields of large white trilliums amidst a forested path. We then had a barbecue lunch.
We had planned to visit Mom’s grave on the way back from Larry’s. Many people were at Resthaven that day, and we saw fresh bouquets, Mother’s Day signs and balloons at gravesites.
I recalled the orientation of Mom’s plaque and its proximity to a fence adjacent to a low apartment building, yet it took quite a long time for Mark and me to find it. I just knew where it couldn’t possibly be, and after a walk up and down the rows of plaques I found it:

You’re always in my thoughts, Mom. Always.

Hi Craig
What a lovely way to spend Mother’s Day; a walk in the woods, a lovely barbecue with a new friend and a visit to your mom’s gravesite. The plaque is beautiful. Always nice to have someone you love with you when you visit the gravesite of your parent. She was a lovely woman I remember. I believe I met her once a long time ago. I’m sure you were a wonderful son to her which is so very special and appreciated by a mother.
Take care
