Another of my favourite things is checking out departures and arrivals on airport signs. I love to see where planes are headed, or where they have just come from. When I arrived at Beijing Capital International Airport from Pyongyang, I took a photo of the arrivals sign:
Notice that flights from Pyongyang and Seoul arrived one after the other.
When I flew to the Faroe Islands from Copenhagen, I was surprised to read the departure sign in English only. The sign said “Faroe Islands”, and not Færøerne in Danish or Føroyar in Faroese, although I would have been surprised if it had said the latter. While at Copenhagen Airport I was also excited to see departure destinations for Greenland. Last summer I got to marvel at all the African destinations while I was at the Johannesburg and Cape Town airports.
